You may already know that certified organic skin care products are the safest and healthiest option for your skin care routine. However, purchasing them can be more than a little bit overwhelming. There are many different labels for organic or natural products, and it can be difficult for the average person to figure out exactly what they are purchasing, which we are hoping to rectify today.
What Goes into Certified Organic Skin Care Products?
It is important to understand there are a number of different labels that go on skin care products claiming to be certified organic. However, the labels do not all mean the same thing. In order for a skin care product to be certified organic, it needs to be made up of a minimum of ninety-five percent organic ingredients. Other labels, such as organic or all-natural, can go on products that have as little as twenty percent organic material in their composition. Check the labels on your products carefully to make sure you are getting the best possible products.
Order of Ingredients Matters
Another thing to bear in mind when shopping for certified organic skin care products is the order in which the ingredients appear on the label. Ingredients are listed from the highest concentration in the product to the lowest concentration. So, if you are interested in a product because it has a particular certified organic essential oil in it, for example, make sure that the oil is listed as one of the first few ingredients. The lower it is on the list, the less of it there is in the product.
Know Your Ingredients
It is also important that you know exactly what is in all of your skin care products. While some ingredients may sound like they are artificial or could damage your skin, they may just be fancy names for natural products. For example, sodium chloride sounds like something you wouldn’t want on your face, but it is really just another name for sea salt. Citric acid may sound like something that could burn you, but it is just the acid from citrus fruit.
