Healthy skin cell function includes much more than just using the correct cleanser and moisturizer every day and night. There are many little things that you do each day that have a significant impact on the look and feel of your skin. Engaging in just a few healthy habits each day will not only improve your skin cell function but your overall health as well.
Hydration Is Essential for Healthy Skin Cell Function
One of the most important things you can do to maintain healthy skin cell function is to make sure your skin is properly hydrated. Of course, this means you should have a moisturizing product you put on your face at least twice a day but that is not all there is to it. You also need to make sure you are drinking the recommended about of water each day. As a rule of thumb, it is recommended you drink half of your body weight in ounces of water each day. So, for example, a person who weighs 150 pounds should be drinking 75 ounces of water each day.
Work Up a Sweat
Exercise is essential for every aspect of your health, including your skin. When your workout and you sweat, the sweat helps remove toxins from your skin. However, sweat sitting on your skin can lead to breakouts if you aren’t careful. Be sure to rinse your body off immediately after each workout and follow up with a moisturizer. If you let the sweat sit for any amount of time, it will clog your pores and cause a number of different issues.
Take Care of Your Mental Health
Many people do not realize stress is at the core of many of the most common skin care problems. It can lead to hormonal changes that cause breakouts and can cause premature wrinkles due to the furrowing of the brow and eyes. Taking time each day for your mental health can do wonders for your skin. Spend a few moments each day meditating or writing in a journal to make sure that you are clearing up your headspace as well as your skin.
